Flagstaff's mission of protecting and enhancing the quality of life for all guides every decision I make as your City Councilmember. During my time on City Council, I've worked with community members, staff, and partners to move forward solutions that address Flagstaff's most urgent needs. Expanding Housing Access & Affordability

🗹 Working with our Housing Commission, new Housing Division, and local and statewide housing advocates, I supported the advancing of policies that support development of a range of housing types to expand options for workers and families across income levels. This includes zoning considerations for what's known as missing middle housing that will enable duplexes, triplexes, and other options throughout Flagstaff neighborhoods.
🗹 I have supported creative use of city-owned sites and partnerships to expand affordable housing development opportunities, and continue to track the pulse and progress of future opportunities for creative and innovative partnerships.
🗹 I have worked to integrate housing strategies into regional planning and budget priorities, including advocating for the inclusion of our 10-Year Housing Plan in agenda considerations of various projects, to ensure that affordability and attainability are proactively a part of City policies.

Strengthening Behavioral Health & Recovery Resources
Behavioral health, including mental health and substance use and misuse challenges, is a public health priority that intersects with our community's work in homelessness, housing security, and community wellbeing. 🗹 I have engaged consistently with the Coconino Crisis Management team to understand current resources, coming programs, and tools to support our community in partnership with behavioral health agencies, public safety teams, and other organizations throughout Flagstaff and Coconino County.
🗹 I have partnered with local health service teams, peer organizations, and agencies such as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to support local and regional efforts expanding recovery and prevention supports.
🗹 I remain a champion for the recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month, Suicide Prevention Month, Recovery Month, and other national, state, and local efforts to support behavioral health, prevention, recovery, and more.
🗹 After engaging in partnership discussions with local and regional agencies supporting recovery, crisis management, behavioral health, and trauma-informed care, I introduced a future agenda item request (FAIR) to support Flagstaff becoming a recovery-ready community.

Our community has faced increasing wildfire and flood risks. I have supported initiatives that prioritize preparation, mitigation, and long-term resilience. In addition, many residents have faced rising insurance costs, or have seen the cancellation of their policies and critical coverage; I have advocated, and continue to advocate, for ongoing access for our community to these critical resources.
